To Commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of WW2, and to remember the fallen in all wars, The Petersfield Parish Office are making a waterfall of poppies to cover the porch at St Peter’s Church, Petersfield. This will act as a backdrop for the Remembrance service held in the Square in November 2025.
They are hoping this to be an all-inclusive, Petersfield wide, community project perhaps including Schools, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Churches, W.I. Bellringers, Lions plus all knitters, crochet makers and all!
To fulfil the project, the Parish Office could be looking for around 6000 knitted/crochet poppies! The poppies would be attached to netting, to be able to produce the effect of a waterfall, covering the whole of the church porch and to be a backdrop to The Remembrance service in Petersfield Square on Remembrance Sunday 2025.
This is not a small project; hence we need the support of the whole community. Yes, to make the poppies, but also to sup-port the project with finance and offers of materials.
Would you like to be part of this community project? We do hope so.
There will be balls of yarn on offer for people to take away, to knit/crochet poppies, at Rams Walk on Saturday 15th February; ready for the Remembrance day service in November.
